Liquid Level-to-Frequency Converter

Abstract

One simple way of measuring the level of a nonconducting liquid is to use, the capacitance between two conducting surfaces suitably placed inside the liquid, as the basis. The value of the capacitance in a proper set up is directly related to the level of the liquid. The capacitance is initially converted into pulsewidth and then into frequency for possible use in the digital equipment or in process control. The authors designed and constructed a digital liquid-level indicator employing such a liquid level-to-frequency converter.
