B. H. Wadia

WADIA B H (Dr.): Born in 1927.: Obtained BE (Mech & Elee) in 1948 from Engineering College, Poona; and Master's and Doctorate degrees at Stanford University (California) by 1954 specialising Electron Devices. His “A” career led to Memberships of—Institution of Electrical & Electronic Engineers; Sigma Xi, Tau Beta Pi.

After serving as Research Associate at Stanford, Dr. Wadia spent 1954 to 1956 at Machlett Laboratories, Connecticut, as a Senior Product Engineer on a line of ultra-high-frequency valves. From 1956 to 1961, Dr. Wadia worked under CSIR in research and teaching, at CEERI, Pilani and the EE Department of IIT, Bombay laying the ground-work of progress and facilities, administering and guiding the staff on a number of projects.

In 1961, Semiconductors Limited, Poona, was formed with Dr. Wadia as Technical Manager. He soon took on dual responsibility as Director of Technical operations and Marketing Operations which he held upto 1971.

Dr Wadia has been co-opted on a number of bodies: Founder-President (1967–70) Electronic Component Industries Association; Board of Studies for Electrical Engineering both at IIT Bombay and at Poona University; Research Advisory Committee for Solid-State at National Chemical Laboratory; Committee on Electronics of the Department of Atomic Energy; Chairman of the Semiconductor Devices Sectional Committee of the ISI; National Advisory Committee on Electronics; and a frequent participant in meetings of the Government for the Electronics Industry.

Dr. Wadia has authored a dozen research papers and has three US patents to his name. In the last decade he has contributed a number of Surveys, Reports & Reviews on the Electronics Industry.
