Development of Electronic Modules for Analytical Instruments

Abstract

It has been pointed out that a major area of electronic systems which offers scope for intensive research and development belongs to the electronic modules that have to be utilized in analytical instruments for the purpose of recording and display. A brief account of the academic and technology standards that have to be established to cope up with the indigenous analytical systems has been given.

KATTI, P K (Dr): He has been a Professor of Applied Optics and Optical Instrumentation at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, till 1969. Later, he worked as the Director of the Instruments Research and Development Establishment at Dehra Dun where he has been responsible for the development of highly sophisticated indigenous optical instrumentation for day and night use by the Defence Services. At present, he is working in the Department of Science and Technology as the Project Manager (Instruments) and is engaged in the Instrument Development Programme of the Department of Science & Technology which identifies and promotes inter-disciplinary and inter-institutional programmes leading to indigenous production of optical and electro-optical instruments required for training and research, and major industry, scientific programmes.
