Effect of Fabrication Tolerances on Microstrip Line Characteristics

Abstract

Expressions for changes in micro strip characteristics (phase velocity and characteristic impedance) with tolerances in line shape (IV/h) and dielectric constant of the substrate are reported. These expressions are simple and accurate and quite useful for the computer- aided methods and optimization of micro strip components. Effect of tolerances on the VSWR performance of a quarter-wave transformer has also been studied.
