Thick-Film Chip Resistors: Design, Fabrication and Application

Pages 134-136 | Published online: 11 Jul 2015

Abstract

Chip resistors are used on PCB's of high frequency circuit advantageously. Design aspects of thick-film resistors for this application are discussed along with their impact on fabrication processes.

Popular thick-film conductor and resistor pastes on alumina substrate are used. These glass-passivated resistors have soft solder terminations. Laser is employed for trimming of resistors. Cutting with laser is of vital importance in this fabrication approach.

The paper is concluded with test results and hints on mounting of the chips on PCB/ceramic substrate.
