Guided Waves In Anisotropic Slabs

Pages 260-265 | Received 03 Apr 1979, Published online: 11 Jul 2015

Abstract

Wave propagation through uniaxial and biaxial asymmetric anisotropic dielectric slab waveguides at microwave, millimetric and optical frequencies have been studied in the present paper. Results of the theoretical investigations on propagation constant, cut-off parameter, powerflow, power carrying capacity and attenuation due to lossy dielectric have been presented for different guided modes. Symmetric and asymmetric isotropic structures, treated as special cases of the formulation, have also been presented. The work is then extended to the sensitivity analysis of optical waveguides. The study is useful in design and fabrication of different components in integrated optics.
