Space-Charge Waves in Plasma-Filled Elliptic Waveguides in Presence of Magnetic Field

Abstract

In this paper, the nature of space-charge waves of an elliptic plasma column in the presence of both finite and infinite magnetic fields are discussed. Using Mathieu functions, dispersion relations are derived. Three figures are drawn depicting phase characteristics (frequency vs wave number) in these particular cases. Dispersion relations for circular waveguides are also derived as limiting cases.
