Abstract

The paper describes a technique of the use of mode variables in the analysis of certain time-varying two-port networks. The mode variables V1+, V1-, V2+, V2- are defined in such a manner that the actual voltage variables V1 and V2 are given by the sum of the respective plus and minus components. It is found that under special circumstances, the use of mode variables enables the behaviour of the network to be described by two uncoupled equations, which can be reduced to Mathieu type of equations with the help of appropriate transformations.
