An Anemometer for Tethered Balloon

Pages 324-325 | Received 01 Apr 1981, Published online: 11 Jul 2015

Abstract

An anemometer which employs magnetic pickup, a built-in comparator and a rate-meter circuit is described. Its output is in milli-volt form, linearly related to wind speed. The output is connected to a transmitter for telemetering the wind signal. The planetary boundary layer profile-measuring system utilizes a tethered balloon to carry the instrument aloft. It is linearized over an operating range of 0.8 to 20 m/s wind speed.
