Abstract

The paper presents possibilities and some results in the application of the “Synchro active TV system” for the T/F dissemination via the ground and satellite TV networks. The user could utilize the same equipment for both systems. The basic characteristic of this system is in securing the second pulse every second from the atomic caesium clock located in TV studio Belgrade. The method of international comparison of the time and frequency is proposed via the ground TV network by utilizing time and TV synchronising pulses without picture elements from the studio Belgrade.

TV broadcasting satellites may prove useful for highly accurate T F dissemination by methods designed to greatly reduce propagation time variations and also to determine the satellite's position receiving the same signals at the various sites for path delay corrections. Accuracy of the determination of TV satellite's position is better than 50 m. A special TV receiver was developed for obtaining the second pulses at receiving point with the precision of few nanoseconds. The delay time of the TV receiver is practically constant.
