Abstract
The Navy Navigation Satellite System termed as NNSS of US Navy consisting of a constellation of 5 satellites in a polar circular orbit at an altitude of about 1000 km has been found to be quite a precise source of Time. Navy tracking stations follow each satellite clock to maintain precise time referenced to US Naval Observatory. To take advantage of NNSS for Time Synchronization, a Satellite Timing Receiver is developed at Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad. This paper describes the details of the Timing Receiver developed at SAC, the principle of operation and the results.
