Abstract

The Indian National Satellite System—INSAT will be operationalized next year with the launching of INSAT-1A Spacecraft in the first quarter of 1982. INSAT is a multipurpose satellite system for domestic telecommunication, meteorology and satellite broadcasting. Some of the specialized services such as standard time and frequency broadcasts may also be accommodated in INSAT System to the extent possible and if requirements justify. This paper presents an overview of the various segments on the INSAT-1 system and the possibility of using the same for time and frequency broadcasts.
