Abstract
A novel scheme to tune the local oscillator in a Frequency-Agile Radar is described in this paper. The use of microwave discriminators and high-speed digital circuits facilitates tuning of receiver local oscillators within 2 to 3 microseconds of the transmitter pulse. Advantages of the scheme described include possibility of compact implementation, and, not depending on the transmitter tuning mechanism. Frequency accuracies of the order of ± 2 MHz in X-band are possible with state-of-the art discriminators, Schottky chips and linearizers, all easily available.
