Speech Band Compression Using Partial Response Codes

&
Pages 86-87 | Received 03 Apr 1982, Published online: 10 Jul 2015

Abstract

Using suitable partial response signalling (PRS) codes, the speech band has been compressed to a ratio of 2: 1 and is used in (i) analogue pulse-communication (PAM) through band-restricted channel and in (ii) low-bit-rate transmission using adaptive-delta-modulation (ADM). The PRS decoder consists of a novel two-stage feed-forward-cum-feed- back linear transversal filter (LTF). The performances of both the systems have been found to be satisfactory.
