Abstract

A multiple current source inverter system with 8.75 per cent total harmonic distortion is proposed. It has negligible lower order harmonics and the predominant harmonics are 23rd and 25th. This has been achieved by cascading a small kVA PWM inverter in series with a 3-steps per-quarter-cycle current-source inverter. Design criterion for feed inductance is evolved. The results have been experimentally verified.
