Abstract
This paper on ‘Telemetry in power systems’ briefly describes the need for and the requirements of a Telemetry System in this field, the various systems configurations available and the special factors to be considered in designing a system for the application in this field. The functioning of a typical Telemetry System is briefly explained with analytical views on security and the communication channel. In the concluding part a survey of the state of this art and future trends in Telemetry Systems applied to Power Systems is also given.
