On-Line Multiprecision Floating-Point Arithmetic Packages

Pages 493-497 | Received 16 Nov 1982, Published online: 10 Jul 2015

Abstract

Floating-point (FLP) operations are defined in most medium-to-large scale computers as parts of the computer architectures and either special hardware circuits (like FLP processors) are fitted to them or microprogrammings takes care of them. In microcomputers, since there are generaly no room for FLP operations, they are to be implemented by subroutine packages. An attempt has been made to realise multiprecision FLP packages meant for InteI-8085A with a special attention to make use of them in ON-line applications also.
