Abstract
This paper examines in detail, the response of a regenerative frequency divider (RFD) to an amplitude modulated excitation. The theoretical analysis explains the ‘divider threshold’ and ‘phase jump’ phenomena. Experimental results presented corroborate the findings of the theoretical analysis. Application of an RFD in speech bandwidth compression is briefly discussed.
