On the Performance of a Digital Optical Receiver Employing Avalanche Photodetector

Abstract

The performance of a digital optical receiver employing avalanche photodetector is evaluated in terms of the bit error probability. The effect of finite timing error on the receiver performance is also studied. Computed results show an increase in the system error probability as the timing error is increased.
