A Microprocessor-Based High-Accuracy Speed-Measurement System

Abstract

High-accuracy speed-measurement schemes employ both pulse counting and time-interval measurement techniques. However, the present-day schemes have the disadvantage of variable-duration counting process. They also suffer from the time-delay errors introduced by the interrupt routines. The proposed scheme overcomes these defects. It has a fixed sampling period. The counter modes are suitably selected to eliminate the software time-delay errors.
