Abstract
In this paper, the controller design procedures for the assignment of the poles of a linear multivariable system with output feedback are presented. Typical unity-rank proportional-derivative controller having more number of parameters than the conventional constant-gain controller is first discussed. The design procedure for the proportionalintegral controller which eliminates steady-state error in the system is then presented. In both cases, the design equations are formulated in terms of the appropriately-partitioned co-efficient matrix of the system numerator transfer-function matrix. Simplicity of the design procedures is illustrated with numerical examples.
