Abstract
The paper delineates a rule for computing the elements of the state transition matrix when the system is in the phase variable controllable form, common to most physical systems. The rule is based on the fact that columns of the transition matrix satisfy the same differential equations as the state. This rule should reduce the time complexity of computer calculations as compared to conventional algorithms.
