Abstract
The effect of reactive loading on the radar cross section of a metallic sphere has been investigated. The measurements were done on the image plane by the cancellation method and the generator used was operating in the X-band. The perturbation, or the reactive loading was by means of thin slots cut through the whole surface of the spheres at different angles to the plane of illumination. The range of measurements were within the resonance region of the spheres. The comparison of loaded to unloaded spheres RCS confirms the control by reactive loading.
