Coupling Between Asymmetric Microstrip Lines Through Apertures

Abstract

An analysis of coupling between two microstriplines through small appertures (holes, thin slots) is presented. An equivalent parallel plate waveguide model supporting TEM wave is used. The formulation based on Bethe's theory of coupling also takes the effective dielectric constant εeff into account. The theoretical results so obtained are found to be in very good agreement with experimental data in both the cases of hole and slot coupling.
