Abstract
In this paper, we study the blocking performance of telephone connecting networks with regard to their cost. We restrict ourselves to three-stage Clos networks. A method to evaluate the performance of three-stage Clos networks is described. This method involves far less computation as compared to the theoretical solution suggested by Benes. Further, it is shown that the performance of three-stage Clos networks can be considerably improved by marginal increase in the number of middle-stage switches from the minimum required.
