Abstract
The paper presents challenges encountered in establishing communication systems in railway road and underground mine tunnels and the concepts which have helped establishing communication in different types of tunnels. Communication systems established on the basis of work done by the authors in underground mine tunnel is described in detail and the perspectives of development of integrated communication systems for allied problems in India in the future are presented.
