On Development of Circulator in mm-Wave Region

Pages 141-143 | Received 15 May 1985, Published online: 02 Jun 2015

Abstract

Ferrite circulators in the waveguide version are designed and developed in millimetre wave region of frequencies in Ka and U bands, The circulation of RF energy in these devices is attributed to the polarising magnetic field displacement. In the circulators developed. Equilateral triangular based Nickel Ferrite prisms whose 4πMs value is 5000 Gauss has been used.

The characteristics of the circulator in both the frequency bands has been tabulated. An interesting inference during the development of the device is that 3 dimensions of the W/G junction inserts (height of ferrite, thickness of copper triangle and thickness of dielectric) of the Ka band circulator bear a definite proportion to the corresponding ones of the U band circulator.
