Pages 43-47 | Received 28 Jul 1986, Published online: 02 Jun 2015

Abstract

Demand Assignment (DA) is advantageous over Pre-assignment under low traffic conditions. This paper presents details of a Demand Assignment Multiple Access (DAMA) system for the national telecom network having a number of low traffic terminals. This system operates on centralised control basis. A number of low bit-rate common signalling channels are used which can be activated as per network traffic requirements. Transmissions from slave remote terminals (RT) to master station (MS) use slotted ALOHA with slot synchronization done using open loop synchronization. System has capability for interworking of different size terminals with expansion capabilities at any of the locations. Hardware details of remote and master terminal are also described.
