Abstract

This paper first describes the blackboard architecture in some details as a model for building expert systems. Some knowledge based systems based on blackboard architecture have been described and an implementation of one such system AIDS (Artificially Intelligent Draftsman for Schematics) has been studied in detail. The main objective of this apaper is to serve as an exhaustive tutorial on blackboard systems.
