Abstract

A reduced size, light weight, circularly polarised two arm conical log spiral antenna with hemispherical coverage, working over a 15: 1 frequency band (800 MHz to 12 GHz) has been designed and developed. A low loss, high strength radome has also been developed to protect this antenna. This antenna can be used as an Omni Directional antenna in the hemisphere covered by it. Experimental results are presented. This type of antenna is ideally suited for satellite communication, command guidance/control and broadband surveillance (airborne, ship-borne and vehicle mounted) applications
