Abstract

A resonance method has been set up for evaluating the series residual inductance of standard coaxial capacitors using computer aided vector impedance analyzer. This method employs frequency variation technique and has a frequency range upto 1000 MHz. It enables to measure directly the self resonance frequency of the high value ~100 pF) as well as the low value (~5pF) capacitors with an accuracy of $$0.2%. The accuracies achieved in assigning the high frequency value to the capacitors are comparable albeit somewhat better than those obtained by other methods.
