N Viswanadham
N Viswanadham is a professor at the Department of Computer Science and Automation, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He received his PhD degree in 1970 from IISc. Since August 1967 he has been on the faculty of the IISc, where currently he is a Professor. He has held several visiting appointments at the University of New Brunswick, the University of Waterloo, the General Electric Corporate Research and Development Centre. He was a GE Research fellow during 1989.
Since 1981, his research investigations have been in the areas of Automated Manufacturing Systems and Fault-tolerant Control System Design. His current research interests are in the areas of fault tolerant control system design, large scale dynamic systems, and flexible manufacturing systems and Distributed computing systems.
He is the author of more than 50 referred journal articles, 55 conference papers. He is a joint author of a book entitled “Reliability in Computer and Control Systems” published by North-Holland in 1987. He is currently an Associate Editor at large for the IEEE Trans on Automatic Control and Associate Editor of Control Theory and Advanced Technology published by MITA Press, Japan, and Information and Decision Technologies published by North-Holland, Amsterdam, Intelligent and Robotic Systems published by Kluwer Academic, and Sadhana published by Indian Academy of Sciences.
He is a Fellow of Indian National Science Academy, Indian Academy of Sciences and Indian National Academy of Engineering.
S Sathiya Keerthi
S Sathiya Keerthi was born on March 21, 1959, in Aruppukottai, India. He received the BE (Hons) degree in mechanical engineering from University of Madras, India, in 1980, the MS degree in mechanical engineering from University of Missouri-Rolla, in 1982, and the PhD degree in computer, information and control engineering, from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1986.
He is now in the faculty of the Department of Computer Science and Automation at the Indian Institute of Science. Bangalore, as Assistant Professor. His research interests are mainly in the areas of computational methods of optimal control, and optimization.
