V Sinha
Vishwanath Sinha joined IIT Kanpur in 1971 where he is currently a Professor and the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering as well as the Advanced Centre for Electronic Systems (ACES). He obtained his BSc Engineering (Telecommunication) from BIT Sindri (Ranchi University) in 1963, MS and DSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ljubljana, Yugoslavia in 1969 and 1971 respectively. He served at BCE Bhagalpur (1963–71) before moving over to his present Institute. He has also served as a Visiting Faculty at the University of Puerto Rico, USA; Brazilian Space Research Institute and ISRO, Ahmedabad.
His interests are in digital communication systems in general and Telematics, Error Control Coding, Fault Tolerant Computing and Digital Satellite Communication in particular. He is the Project Coordinator of the Telematics Project at IIT Kanpur. He has more than 40 publications to his credit so far.
He is a recipient of several IETE awards for his papers. He is a Fellow of IETE as well as IE (India), a Senior Member of IEEE, and a member of ISTE. He has been the Chairman of the Kanpur Centre of IETE for last two years.
