Abstract
The probability of error performance of spectral efficient intersymbol and jitter-free (IJF) transmission techniques is evaluated for linear and nonlinear transversal receivers. These types of receivers are suitable for digital satellite communication (SATCOM) systems, and particularly for Nonlinearly Amplified (NLA) power and spectrally efficient system applications. The computed results are given in terms of communication efficiency loss compared with optimum binary schemes. The trade-off between communication and spectral efficiency is also analyzed.
In this paper an extension of the IJF technique is described. A novel binary transmission technique having controlled ISI is introduced which, without increased complexity, improves the system efficiency. The obtained advantage is significant for multichannel digital SATCOM systems.
