Future of Space Communications in India

Abstract

The paper reviews the space communications on the world scene. Future of space communication in general are dealt with in terms of crowding in space and some basic questions and their responses. Such as satellite failures, launch vehicles failures, short life of satellites, obsolescence of both space and ground based equipment, long time periods required, high costs of insurance, mutual interferences from and to ground systems, security of communications, susceptibility of the communications to interception and intentional or unintentional interference, attractive alternatives to satellites, and technological dependence. Finally, future space communication needs of India are highlighted in detail.
