Threshold Extension of FM Demodulators by using Multiband Threshold Switches

Abstract

A new threshold extension technique for FM receivers is described. It predicts a several dB decrease of the threshold with respect to the most performant FM demods based on PLL and FMFB techniques. In addition to threshold extension, the technique also improves the signal to noise ratio.
