Abstract

The impedances for even and odd modes for two circular conductor balanced line have been determined by finite element analysis. This has been obtained by computing the respective capacitances through the solution of the two dimensional Laplace equation. The effect of variation of the ratio of ground planes spacing to rod radius and the distance of the rod from the rounded semicircular adjacent end wall have been studied. As the ratio of ground plane spacing to rod radius decreases, the coupling reduces. A modification in the geometry of both the parallel planes in the form of a cut angle is seen to result in an increase of the coupling up to 35 percent.
