Ashok Jhunjhunwala
Dr Ashok Jhunjhunwala is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Madras. He did his BTech from IIT Kanpur in 1975 and MS and PhD from University of Maine, USA in 1977 and 1979 respectively. He was a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Washington State University, Pullman, USA from 1979–81. He has been at IIT Madras since 1981. His areas of expertise include Computer Networks, Fiber Optics, Communication Systems and Surface Acoustic Waves. He has been involved in a number of Developmental projects in the last few years. They include “TDM-TDMA Wireless Rural Communication System”, “Fibre Optic-Signalling System for Basin-Bridge” and “G703 based Drop and Insert Multiplexer”. He has developed a Fibre Optic Communication Educator which is today widely used in many institutions for B Tech and M Tech teaching. He has more than 20 research publications in Journals and have presented over 40 papers in national and International conferences.
