Abstract

The problem of parameter estimation in nonlinear distributed parameter systems through the use of Walsh function has been considered. The method reduces the problem to a computationally convenient form. The results though approximate are encouraging, keeping in view the order of Walsh function matrix (9 x 4) and operational matrix of integration (P2 x2) used, to keep memory requirements low. The advantages of our method are that it is computationally simple, recursive and suitable for on-line identification. By generating auxiliary data from the given input-output data, the method may be extended to cover the case of fractional powers.
