Performance of MSK-CDMA System in a Shadowed Rician Fading Land-Mobile Satellite Channel

Abstract

This paper investigates the bit error rate (BER) performance of direct-sequence code division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) system employing MSK modulation operating over a specular multipath channel characterized by the combined effect of Rayleigh fading and log-normal shadowing.

M Suganthi

M Suganthi obtained her BE degree from the Thiagrajar College of Engineering, Madurai Kamaraj University, and ME degree from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, India, in 1983 and 1985, respectively. She is now working as senior lecturer in the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, India and is working toward the PhD Degree.

She has published 9 research papers in the national and international conferences and journals on Spread Spectrum and ATM networks. Her research interest includes mobile and wireless communication.

R Rajaram

R Rajaram, Professor of Computer Applications and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai has got BE degree (1966) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Madras University. He did his MTech (1971) Electrical Engineering at IIT, Kharagpur and the PhD Degree (1979) in Madurai Kamaraj University. He has been Teaching Computer Hardware and Software Subjects and supervising research activities.

He went on deputation under Government of India Foreign Assignment Scheme to Makerere University, Irag (1980–81). He along with his research students has published 32 papers in Indian and Foreign journals and has written 7 books on computer languages. His current interests are Neural Networks Applications, Fuzzy Systems, Networks and Communication.

S Shanmugavel

S Shanmugavel graduated from Madras Institute of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 1978. He obtained his PhD degree in the area of coded communication and spread spectrum techniques from IIT, Kharagpur in 1989.

He joined the faculty of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Communication Engineering at IIT, Kharagpur as lecturer in 1987 and became Assistant Professor in 1991. Presently he is with the School of Electronics and Communication Engineering, College of Engineering, Gundy, Chennai.

He has published more than 20 research papers in the national and international conferences and journals in the areas of error control coding, spread spectrum communication and ATM networks.
