Anomalies and Explanation in Superconductors: An Experimentalist's Point of View

Pages 239-247 | Published online: 26 Mar 2015

Abstract

Today how far our theoretical models match up with high standard laid down by the above statement of P W Anderson! A critical analysis of LTSC and HTSC era puts a big question mark on the very basic understanding of the phenomenon. A few prime questions ! Do we know the basic structure of the ground state? Do we take into consideration all those interactions responsible for the formation of the ground state? and if so, how far our theoretical models and their extentions are capable of explaining the plethora of diversified experimental observations, which are still far from any satisfactory answer. This paper brings out some of the important anomalous experimental observations which defy any theoretical explanation.
