Abstract
Fractal dimension is a powerful tool to characterize roughness in an image. This paper presents fractal geometry based approach for texture segmentation. Five fractal dimension features are calculated from the original image, the high-gray image, the low-gray level image, the horizontally and vertically smoothed image. Supervised texture segmentation is achieved using minimum distance and fuzzy classifier for different window sizes. The fuzzy classifier with smaller window size gives better performance.
