Abstract
Modified approach to design Rotman type lens has been proposed. Lenses designed using the proposed approach have been analyzed using the contour integral approach. Effects of design parameters on the performance of the lens have been investigated. Results of investigations on wide band characteristics of the lens are also presented.

P K Singhal
Pramod K Singhal was born in 1965. He received the BE degree in electronics engineering from Jiwaji University, Gwalior, in 1987, the MTech degree in microwave electronics from the University of Delhi, Delhi in 1989 and the PhD degree in electronics engineering in 1997 from Jiwaji University, Gwalior. At present, he is working as Reader in Department of Electronics Engineering, Madhav Institute of Technology & Science, Gwalior. He has about 44 publications to his credit at the national and international level. He is a life member of ISTE, CSI, IE (India) and IETE. His research interest includes electromagnetic, communication systems, microwave circuits and antenna.
R D Gupta
R D Gupta is the director of Madhav Institute of Technology & Science, Gwalior, India. He receivd the BSc (Engg) degree from BHU, Varanasi, India, the ME degree from BITS, Pilani and the PhD degree from Queens University, Canada. He has guided a number of projects. He is member of the IEEE, IETE and ISTE. His interest includes system engineering, microwave antenna and control system.
P C Sharma
P C Sharma born on August 1, 1947, obtained his BE and ME degrees from University of Indore, India, in 1969 and 1972 respectively. He completed PhD from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India in 1982.
In 1972 he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, SGS Institute of Technology and Science, India. In 1973, when a new Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering was established in the same Institute, he joined this new Department as a lecturer. He became Reader in 1979 and Professor in 1986. He was the Head of the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from 1991–1996. In 1996, he was selected to the highest position, as Director of the Institute, the position which he served until the end of 1999. Presently Dr Sharma is working as Professor in Faculty of Engineering & Chairman Centre of Esceelence for Applied Electromagnetic, Multimedia University, Cyber Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia.
Dr Sharma was Visiting Scientist at University of Colorado at Boulder, USA during 1989–91. He has also worked with University Sains, Malaysia during 1995–96 as Visiting Scientist and during 1997–98.
For his outstanding research contributions, Dr Sharma was awarded with Pandit Lajja Shankar Jha Award (1986) by Government of Madhya Pradesh State, in 1987, he was awarded, for his contributions as teacher, with National “Anna University Award” by Indian Society for Technical Education, an organization established by Government of India. For the best research paper publication in Journal, Dr Sharma was awarded with Dr Radha Krishnan Award (1992) by the State Government of Madhya Pradesh State.
Dr Sharma has authored a book on Transmission Lines and Filters (in Hindi). He has translated a book from Urdu to Hindi and two books from English to Hindi in the field of Spirituality. Dr Sharma is also a yoga teacher and as voluntary and free service helps aspirants in meditation.
Dr Sharma has over 120 research papers to his credit published in reputed Journals and Proceedings of conferences.
Dr Sharma is Senior Member IEEE, Fellow of Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (FIETE) and Life Member ISTE (India).
