S L Maskara
Having served IIT Kharagpur for close to 38 years as a faculty member in the Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering Department, Shankar Lall Maskara retired on the 30th of June 2004. He has taken up a teaching assignment at the Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
He got his PhD degree from IIT Kharagpur in 1977. He obtained his BSc Engg degree from Ranchi University in 1963 and the ME degree from IISc Bangalore in 1966.
He has taught and carried out his research and development work in various aspects of Telecommunication and Networking Technology all his life till date. His special interests have been in the areas of Spread Spectrum, Multiple Access including CDMA and Error Control Coding Techniques and Wireless, Mobile, Satellite and Optical Fibre Communication Systems.
Subrat Kar
Subrat Kar graduated with Honours in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani in 1987. He holds a Doctoral Degre in Electrical Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (1991). He has been with the International Center for Theoretical Physics, Trieste as a Post-Doctoral Fellow (1991–1994). Presently he is a Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Bharti School of Telecommunication Technology, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. His research areas are in optical communication, switching, access technologies, telecom protocols, embedded systems and high speed networks.
