Robust Actuator and Sensor Faults Reconstruction Based on New Sliding Mode Observer for a Class of Output Time-Delay Systems

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we present a new robust sliding mode observer (SMO) design method for a class of uncertain time-delay systems. The uncertainty is unknown and bounded, and the time-delay is also bounded and affects the output of the system. To ensure the stability of the estimation error, sufficient conditions are derived using linear matrix inequality optimization and a Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional. Using the designed SMO and the concept, a robust actuator and sensor faults reconstruction are obtained. To illustrate the validity and the applicability of the proposed approaches, a numerical example is given.

Anis Sellami

Anis Sellami received PhD degree in electrical engineering at National School of Engineers of Tunis in 1999. From 1993 to 1999, Dr Anis Sellami was an associate researcher at National Institute of Scientific and Technical Research (Borjcedria Technopark, Tunisia). From 1999 to 2008, he was an assistant professor at Higher School of Science and Technology of Tunis (HSSTT). Since December 2008 he has been a professor (university lecturer) within the Electrical Engineering Department, HSSTT, Tunisia. His research interests robust control with sliding mode and photovoltaic systems.

Fay¸al Ben Hmida

Faycel Ben Hmida obtained his Habilitation diploma at ESSTT in 2011. He received his BS degree in electrical engineering from the ESSTT, Tunisia, in 1991. In 1992, he obtained his master degree in automatic and informatics at the Aix-Marseille III University, France, and PhD degree in productique and informatics at the same university in 1997. Since 1998 he has been working at the ESSTT at Tunis University as an assistant professor. Now, he is a member in research unit on C3S at ESSTT. His main research includes fault detection and isolation (FDI), robust estimation, and robust filtering.
