Truncated Ground Plane Multiband Monopole Antenna for WLAN and WiMAX Applications

Abstract

This paper presents a low profile multiband printed monopole antenna with a rectangular patch and truncated ground. The patch is embedded with two crossed C-shaped slots and the ground with two E-shaped slots. The antenna is very compact and applicable for Wireless LAN and WiMAX applications with a quite good gain and efficiency for all three bands. Parameters like return loss, radiation pattern, gain, radiation efficiency and current distribution are analyzed by the radiation pattern curve. Parametric analysis is done to understand the effects of various parameters. Simulation and measured data have been compared and found in agreement.
