RESEARCH NOTE

THE USE OF MICROCOMPUTERS IN WATER RESOURCE MODELLING

Pages 81-86 | Published online: 06 Oct 2010

SUMMARY

Microcomputers are the ideal tool for water resource modelling. Not only are they fast and computationally efficient, but they can also provide the user with dynamic graphical displays which greatly assist in the interpretation of the results of the analyses of complex systems.

The use of numerical simulation models also require a clear understanding and formulation of the problem, particularly the choice of time and space scales; the length of the simulation period; model structure and the form of the output.

Three different examples of the application of microcomputer models in water resource analyses are given.
