CONCLUSION AND SUMMING‐UP

This concluding article sums up the Conference and the papers presented. The three major themes evoked were the social and political environment of student counselling in higher education institutions, the role and processes of career counselling, and arguments for an enhanced role for counsellors in the context of higher education. The reader is reminded that the most effective form of counselling remains the personal encounter.
