Abstract
Information technology gives precedence to the act of learning instead of to the arbitrary transfer of knowledge from teacher to learner. It has established a new educational paradigm that finally gives meaning to the human relationship with information. Just as people are finally beginning to think about basic ecological training or about the teaching of environmental friendliness, they need to plan ahead for mental ecology training, taken as the ability to maintain some sort of mental order when exposed to the chaos of the “multimedia” world. Computers, television, and multimedia exist and are increasingly becoming the preferred means of communication. Being able to understand and to control them and to use them thus becomes a basic right of all citizens and workers.
