Abstract

We present the results of some myrmecological researches carried out in the Gesso Valley. Altogether, 46 species were collected, 24 of which were found only in the area of the «Parco Naturale Regionale dell'Argenterà», 14 were found only in the «Riserva Naturale Speciale Juniperus phoenicea» and eight were found in both areas. On the whole, the ant fauna collected seems to indicate a typical Alpine orophilic population in the valleys of the «Parco», while the species found in the «Riserva Juniperus phoenicea» represent a Mediterranean population.
